Students at JFK recently had the opportunity to experience advanced robotics through a special classroom visit led by Proctor High School’s Advanced Manufacturing teacher, Avery Erwin-McGuire. During the week-long push-in experience, Avery first provided an overview presentation to all 8th grade technology classes and then worked with students in smaller breakout groups.
In these sessions, students were able to program the district’s newly acquired industrial FANUC robotic arms, giving every student the chance to engage in hands-on learning. Through coding and problem-solving activities, students explored how robotics and automation are used in modern manufacturing, while developing valuable technical and critical-thinking skills.
This experience provided students with an exciting introduction to advanced manufacturing and the innovative technology they can explore through the district’s Career and Technical Education programs.
